Hello Foothills Rotarians!

Happy May the 4th!  Thanks everyone who came to the offsite at Front Range Community College last Tuesday.  It was a great presenation and I was glad to see such a great turnout!  I hope everyone that was able to participate in the tour enjoyed it.  I have really enjoyed the offsites we have had this year.

Tomorrow will be a great presentation from  John Manzi.  John Manzi  was a Reconnaissance System Officer  for the SR-71 and he will be discussing some of his missions.  In my opinion it's one of the coolest looking planes of all time!   Tomorrow we will also have our last Student of the Month presentation for this school season.  Our students of the month will be from Lincoln Middle School.   Thank you Allison for all of your help in putting this together.  I know it's a lot of work and coordination!

Next week Hunter Powell will be speaking to our club about his experience as an Olympic Bobsleeder.   He will discuss how the bobsled works and how he made the journey to making the Olympic team.  I'm not sure if we have ever had an Olympian speak to our club or if we had, it's been a long time!

Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

The Remarkable SR-71 Blackbird and Its Mission
The Remarkable SR-71 Blackbird and Its Mission

As told by one of the last Reconnaissance Systems Officers to fly operational missions in the Blackbird, the presentation will include interesting facts about how the SR was develop, its remarkable technical capabilities, and its speed and altitude records that stand today, thirty-six years after its retirement. To exemplify its capabilities, the presenter will provide an overview of a very unique, long-duration SR-71 mission that he had the privilege to fly in the Asian-Pacific theater - a mission that has significance to America's current involvement in the Middle East conflict.
