Foothills Rotary Bulletin

Hello Foothills Rotarians,

Happy Monday!  My apologies for getting the bulletin out a little later than originally planned.  I hope that whatever you get to do today, you will be able to stay as cool as possible!   Last week was a great presentation from Colorado Gator's.   Thanks JD for arranging this presentation.  I have no doubt that Andrew our speaker could write a great autobiography!  One of the positive things of the pandemic is that we have been able to utilize Zoom which has really expanded our reach and options as far as presentations go.

Tomorrow our presentation will be from Operation Smile.  Celeste Nigh's daughter Rachel will be making the presentation with Dave Ultzman-Nichols.  Operation Smile helps children with cleft lip and cleft palate have access to safe surgical options.   I'm looking forward to this presentation and learning more about the work that Operation Smile does.

I also wanted to let you know that we are working on an exciting offsite for August 12th.   We are planning on having our offsite at the Children's Museum of Northern Colorado.  This is a great opportunity to bring your kids, grandchildren and anyone else who you think might be interested in learning more about this new museum.  The museum is located in the Loveland Yards which is where the old Outlet Mall is.   I'm working on some of the logistics know and I will hopefully have more information by tomorrows meeting about this.

In September we also have another exciting offsite planned where we will be going to the Food Bank's site in Loveland for a presentation.   Space for this will be limited and we should have a sign up available shortly.

This week RYLA is going on up in Estes Park.  Ben has given me some updates and said everything is going well so far!   I'm so appreciative of our club's support of this great program.

Finally, I wanted everyone to know that Greg Walter's father passed away.  Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.   Greg we are thinking of you during this difficult time.

Andrew Mitchell will explain the history and provide a tour of Colorado Gators, the only alligator farm in Colorado.

Colorado Gators, originally a tilapia farm, is now a major tourist destination in the San Louis valley. About twenty miles west of the Great Sand Dunes National Park, our rescue is home to over 300 alligators, caiman, and crocodile. They also take in snakes lizards, turtles and tortoises, as well as birds, well behaved or otherwise
