Happy June everyone! My apologies for the delay in getting this out to you once again. We have a lot to cover so I thought it may make sense to do bullet points today:
Our speaker today will be Steve Hanks the Coroner for Larimer County along with Rafael Moreno who is a family advocate. Should be another great presentation from someone in our local government!
At our meeting today, we will learn about two ways we can partner with two projects that other Rotary clubs are leading. Gary Turner from the Breakfast Club is leading a project to help with a project at Camp Hope. They are looking for additional volunteers to help with a work day. The second is an event that Rotaract is helping put on to support Iranian students at CSU who have been left in limbo with the current conflict occurring there. Micheal Buttram from CSU will be joining us today along with a CSU student who is from Iran to tell us more about the fundraiser they have planned.
The Innovation Summit is this weekend. If it's easier to plan for you closer to the event, please register! There has been a lot of hard work going into planning this event and looking forward to attending this!
Andrea Walrath and Mellisa Whalen will be coming off the Board. I want to thank each of them for their service! With their coming off, we will have two open spots. If you are interested in joining the Board, please let me know. The term on the board is three years and it's a great opportunity to serve the club in multiple ways.
We have a great offsite next week at Avery's Teahouse which is in the Loveland Yards. The Teahouse and their sister organization Avery's Light provides opportunities for those with special needs to attain real world work experience. Food will be served while we learn more about the great work they are doing! Offsite at Avery's Teahouse in Loveland! | Rotary Club of Fort Collins (Foothills)
The Changing of the Guard Party is at the end of the month. Wynn has been working hard to plan this event and it will be a great time. Please register for this event so we can get a good estimate of how much food and drink to have. This is also a great event to bring other members of your family to. Sign up for Changing of the Guard! | Rotary Club of Fort Collins (Foothills)
Steve Hanks, Larimer County Coroner and Rafael Moreno, Family Advocate, will briefly discuss what a Coroner is, how and why the Coroner is an important part of local government, what statutes they abide by, what death investigations and autopsies look like and they conduct them. They will also have some time for a short Q & A with Coroner Steve
