Thank you to all who have served our country, we appreciate your sacrifice.
I hope that everyone is having a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. Reading the names at the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall was moving and rewarding and a solemn reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by so many to protect our freedoms. Thank you to Erica Siemers for working to organize our club's participation in the reading of names. Thank you also to our readers: Erica Siemers, JD Murphy, Karen Morgan, Guy Mendt, Linda Vomaske, Eric Spanier, Denise Juliana, Allison Hines, Gary McDonald, Mark Goldrich, Carl Dierschow, Janet Peterson, David Joyce, and Tom Hyland.
Share the opportunity to serve our community and world with your friends and colleagues. Rotary is a service club. Its product is serving. Rotarians provide community service to both local and international communities. This is perhaps the best reason for becoming a Rotarian: the chance to do something for somebody else and to sense the self-fulfillment that comes in the process and return of that satisfaction to one's own life. It is richly rewarding.
Our Meeting tomorrow is via Zoom - see the link for Zoom below!

Feeding Fort Collins Families = Improving Lives! Goal: $65,000
Our club has organized a joint Rotary Clubs of Fort Collins project to support a mobile food pantry to provide food to Fort Collins families in northeast Fort Collins. Heather Buoniconti from our club and Chief Development Officer for the Food Bank of Larimer County tells us, "We know that Poudre High School (PHS) is centered in one of the most racially disparate census tracts in Larimer County with 49% of Latin X individuals living below the poverty line as opposed to 16% of white residents.
We have already raised $28,000 toward our goal and the Rotary After Work Club featured this project in its Fort Collins port of its "Cruise Ship Fun-tacular" fundraiser and to date has raised $500. Kathe and Steve Haake kicked off this project with a generous $10,000 donation, which has been matched ($10,000) by our Board using expense savings from our budget. The Breakfast Club has donated an additional $4,000. ClickHERE to learn more about this project and to make your donation! A portion of the proceeds from this year's PeachFest will also be donated to this project.

Scott gave an update on Putnam, referencing his recent email about the struggles they’ve had to deal with this past year due (“Prior to Covid, they would average about 25% of their kids who were homeless or in transitional housing. That number has gone up to 44% this year”) as well as an update on how they’ll be spending our $1,000 donation. He also acknowledged the shout out they gave to Guy for his work with the 5th graders. Scott also discussed future Ale Trail/Foodie Trail events like Taste of Colorado & NewWestFest (details coming but indications looks like they’ll be held, but maybe without booths).
