4 Rotary Clubs worked together to provide 460 backpacks filled with school supplies to deserving school children in first through 6th grades in Acuña, Mexico. The backpacks were presented to seven schools on the children’s first day back to school on September 1, 2025.

The Rotary Club of Acuña Empresarial (District 4110)  was the host club.  Participating clubs include the Rotary Club of Del Rio, Texas (District 5840)  and both the Rotary Club of Fort Collins and the Rotary Club of Fort Collins  Foothills from District 5440.

The Rotary Clubs from district 5440 sent over $2,700 and a team of 10 that included Rotarians and their families from The Rotary Club of Fort Collins and the Rotary Club of Fort Collins Foothills clubs.

We traveled to San Antonio on August 30 and enjoyed some of the local food and activities before leaving for Del Rio, Texas on August 31.  On the evening of August 31, we traveled to the home of Rotarians Veronica and Oscar Navaratte in Acuna Mexico to fill 460 backpacks with supplies for children in primary and middle school.  After 2 hours of assembly, members of the Navarettes and members of the Rotary Club of Acuña Empresarial treated us to a incredible meal and a great time was enjoyed  by members of the four participating clubs.

On Monday, September 1, we traveled to 7 schools and personally delivered the backpacks to the appreciative children.  We united for good to improve the education and literacy of many students.  The smiles on the faces of the children were beautiful and inspiring.

We intend to work more closely with the Rotary Club of Acuña Empreserial to enlarge the program and make it an annual service project.  All participants had an outstanding time and I am sure we created some Rotary Moments along the way.

If your club would like to participate next year, please contact David Dunne, AG, District 5440.
