I’d like to invite you and one other member of your club to attend the Johnstown/Milliken Rotary Club’s Third Annual Teen Impact Awards March 14th. The purpose of this event is to honor teens for acts of character. This award has nothing to do with grades or athletic achievements but speaks to the character that these teens show in their everyday lives.
Another purpose of this event is to raise funds and awareness for our local Rotary Club. We hit our fundraising goal of $20,000 for this year’s event and hope to clear about $15,000 in net proceeds we can use to fund our annual Foundation Budget. These funds help us in turn give out $3,800 in annual college scholarships and an additional $5,600 in RYLA and yRYLA scholarships. We also use these funds to purchase every third-grade student in the school district a new dictionary!
This is the best signature event our Rotary Club has ever had, and we’d be honored to see other clubs start awarding teens in their areas for acts of character (which is why we are excited to invite other clubs to this event). Maybe one day we can grow this into a district event! Our seating will be limited and so I’d appreciate anyone interested in wanting to attend, RSVP to me by February 23rd if possible. We are excited to have you experience this event. In addition to learning about the 11 teens winning this award, our Keynote speaker will be Madison Buhre, a former RHS Student who started the High School Interact Club 10 years ago and currently sits on the RYLA District Committee. Entertainment will be provided by the RHS Music Dept., and students from the RHS Culinary Dept. will be preparing the meal.
