Succeeding with Humility
I'll talk about my experience being a television sportscaster in the early 2000s, and how it was a "microcosm of celebrity". I didn't handle the success and notoriety as well as I could have, and my relationships suffered. I realized how far I'd fallen when my dad congratulated me on my success but then asked, "Are you being true to yourself?" That question led me to get out of television and become a stay-at-home dad and aspiring novelist. Humility was forced on me when, for the first time in my life, things didn't go as planned. Those two experiences--not handling success as well as I would have liked and then experiencing failure for the first time, have helped me grow into my current situation, where I'm experiencing success with my writing...with humility.
