Hello Foothills Rotarians,

Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow after our break last week.   Tomorrow our speaker will be Doug Bradley and Craig Werner who are the authors of the book “We Got to Get Out of this Place”.  The book is about the impact of music for the soldiers who were serving in Vietnam.  There is no doubt there is some great music that came from that time.  We will also have a check presentation to the Boys and Girls Club tomorrow.

Please be sure to register for our next great offsite scheduled for the end of April at Front Range Community College.  The President of FRCC, Colleen Simpson will be speaking to our club.   After the presentation there is an optional tour of the school.   I'm really hoping that we have a lot of people attend this event.  This would be a great event to bring a guest to.  We won't be charging a guest fee to attend since we won't be at the Marriott.    Offsite meeting at Front Range Community College | Rotary Club of Fort Collins (Foothills)

I want to thank everyone that attended the RYLA event at Avo's.   This was truly an amazing event that had great student attendance and attendance from all of the clubs in Ft Collins.  I forgot how much fun it was to play Bingo!

Next Stop is Vietnam: The War on Record
Next Stop is Vietnam: The War on Record

Craig Werner and Doug Bradley place the iconic music of the 1960s and early 1970s at the heart of the U. S. experience in Vietnam. Their presentation explores why U.S. troops turned to music as a way of connecting to each other and the World back home, and how music has helped them cope with the complexities of an unpopular war that they had to fight. Their talk also demonstrates that music was important for every group of Vietnam veterans—black and white, Latino and Native American; men and women; officers and “grunts.”
