Lasting Watershed Effects of Wildfires: Considerations for Land Management

Residents of Fort Collins and along the Colorado Front Range have become familiar with the dramatic watershed impacts of wildfires. Given the size and severity of the 2020 fire season there is a general expectation of both short and long-term responses, and forest managers and water utilities are gearing up for significant changes.  This talk will review what is known and what remains uncertain about how wildfires alter forest watersheds and clean water supply and will discuss likely watershed and management responses in the coming years.
